Finding your way in the world of social media can feel a little like walking on a tightrope; one wrong step can lead to a freefall that will leave us bruised, battered, and full of shame. The fear of judgment is always present, making us hesitant to share our thoughts and experiences. But despite the anxiety, the possibility of connection and support is there, and that can be super appealing.

TikTok, for example, is a strange beast. In some ways, it offers hours of endless entertainment, but in other ways, it seems like a huge room where everyone is yelling, but no one is listening.

That being said, social media has broken me. It has turned my attention span into an over-caffeinated cat on roller skates. Once upon a time, I could sit down with a book and read it from cover to cover without needing a snack break every five hundred words. Now, I find myself diving into a deep, intellectual discussion about the existential meaning of singing beagle videos, only to get sidetracked by a three-hour spiral into the world of puppy yoga (Corgis, by the way, are the most charming, I think). Who knew I’d be more mesmerized by fluffy-butt puppies doing downward dogs than I would be finishing my young adult novel?
