Such an wonderful and important piece. This past October, my husband and I sat with my father-in-law as he passed over with medical aid. He'd suffered a debilitating stroke at age 87, leaving him mostly paralyzed. Oddly, he was still cognitively "there" and could speak. Here in Canada, M.A.I.D. (medical Assistance in Dying) is legal, so this was his choice. IT WAS SO PEACEFUL, and the special conversations we shared in the days leading up to "his day," were so special. He was a stoic and graceful man and we supported his decision to decide and have control his fate.
